The natural world is the wellspring of my inspiration. I find solace and contentment being outdoors, and real joy in rendering my experience of being there. My home and studio nestle in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, where the vibrant light and subtle colors of the high desert inspire me. I have other 'painting homes' as well, places I return to again and again through different seasons and always changing light conditions. I paint only what I love and what I have a strong personal response to. I believe one internalizes the experience of a place, and that internalization then informs subsequent depictions and gives them meaning and depth beyond the obvious. This is key to an inherently honest and truthful painting.
